PROTOCOL OF COOPERATION AMONG SPELEOLOGICAL ORGANIZATIONS OF BALKAN COUNTRIES Contributed by speleo on Thursday, March 20 @ 15:51:16 EET

 Today, September, 7th 2002 in Vratza (Bulgaria), united by the idea of the development and cooperation among the speleologists and speleological organizations in Balkan Peninsula we, the representatives of speleological communities of Balkan countries, signing this protocol achieved consent for the following:
1. It is necessary to develop exchange of information and cooperation about all aspects of Speleology, karst and cave studies, cave technique, training of speleologists, protection of the karst and caves, cave science, cave rescue, etc. among the Balkan countries.
2. We will develop bilateral exchange of caving teams, delegations and groups in occasion of expeditions, conferences, training courses and other speleological events, organized by us.
3. Stimulated by common interests we will organize bilateral and multilateral investigation projects and joint expeditions.
4. Each side who signs this protocol will duly inform the others for its intentions to invite their representatives to take part in speleological events on national or club level.
5. We confirm that the provisions of the Code of Ethics of the UIS concerning cave expeditions in foreign countries will be enforced and respected by all of us on the Balkan Peninsula.
6. The Organizations signatories this Protocol declare their readiness to promote cooperation between the caving clubs and speleological institutions of all Balkan countries.
7. This document has principal character and all problems not fixed here could be negotiated between the interested countries who sign it separately.
8. The protocol has power after its signing by the head organ of the speleological organization who signs it or their authorized representatives.
9. The protocol was written in English language.
